India is at the threshold of a green mobility revolution. Electric mobility, which was a distinct concept for India some years ago, has, today, revolutionised the automobile industry. Under the able leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Government of India is pushing the adoption of electric mobility to reduce carbon emissions. India has also set a target to reach net-zero emissions by 2070. Green Fleet, a dynamic startup, was set up with a vision to be a part of this mission.

Green Fleet endeavours to revolutionise the electric mobility space. Its motive is to encourage drivers of the weaker sections of the society to learn how to drive, maintain and own an E-vehicle through its unique business model called ‘Rent to OWN’.

Green Fleet has also partnered with India’s leading battery swapping company, which provides advanced Li-ion batteries and a network of swapping stations. This provides Green Fleet’s customers with the ease of running E-vehicles with zero downtime and at zero maintenance, enabling them to earn more as they can drive more.

The foundation of the startup is built on the urgent need to curb problems such as gender imbalance in the financial society, limited opportunities to the weaker sections of society, and environmental degradation due to pollution.

Over the last few years, the Government of India has undertaken several initiatives to promote the manufacturing and adoption of electric vehicles in India. This support has enabled rapid penetration of E-vehicles in the Indian market.

E-mobility, especially in the Electric 2W and Electric Rickshaw segment, however, is facing a significant setback on the demand side. Today, electric rickshaws contribute to 83% of the total sales of EVs in India, but it is highly unorganised. Though the running cost of electric rickshaw is much lesser than their conventional counterparts, the upfront cost of owning an e-rickshaw, especially for the low-income groups, hinders the adoption rate.

Our unique ‘Rent to OWN’ model empowers drivers to become self-employed by renting E-vehicles as well as owning them while earning a substantial income. At Green Fleet, we aspire to bridge the gap between leasing an e-vehicle to owning them through this model.
